Victoria, Georgia, is a fictional city in the Omniverse Universe. While there are a number of similarities to Atlanta in our universe, that's just the nature of this project. Each writer was to take a city in our universe, rename it and transform it into the setting for their super-hero fiction.
The controls to the right allow you to explore various aspects of Victoria. Learn about its history, commerce, sports, attractions and more as well as the heroes and villains whose exploits have been chronicled in the city. Also, there is a link to the fictional tales that take place in the city.
The major portions of the city are clustered in three districts - Downtown, Midtown, and Buckmore. Together, its skyline is punctuated with highrise and midrise buildings of modern and postmodern vintage. Kyle Harper is one of the many known architects in the city.
Downtown Victoria is a bustling center of commerce and industry. There are residential sections there, mostly in the form of large apartment buildings or older, historical homes. The tallest landmark downtown - the America's Bank Plaza - is the 26th tallest building in the world at 1,023 feet. It is also the tallest building in the United States outside of New York City and Tradewinds. The central business district, clustered around the Wellkins Peachtree Plaza hotel also includes the newer 101 Peachtree Tower, SunSecure Plaza, Georgia-Altantic Tower, and the buildings of Peachtree Central.
Midtown Victoria, farther north, developed rapidly after the completion of Atlantic One Center in 1987 established the neighborhood as a center of commercial development. There is discussion in the works to make a 14-block stretch called "Midtown Mile" into a street-level shopping destination envisioned to rival Beverly Hill's Rodeo Drive or Trademind's Magnificient Mile. The time frame for completion of this is early in 2004.
Buckmore is consistenly ranked as one of the most affluent communities in the United States. Since the opening of the intown segment of the Georgia 410 tollway which linked the district to the city's superhighway system in the early 1990's, Buckmore has developed a dense commercial district, clustered around the high-end retail centers at Luxor Circle and Phinns Plaza. This area also includes a growing number of office buildings and residential highrises, some in the forty-plus story range.
